Espèce originaire des Philippines, où elle a été découverte à Luzon, dans la province de Tayabas, près de la rivière Umiray sur les rebords et les pentes abruptes dans la forêt le long de la rivière, le 3 juin 1917 par les botanistes Gregorio E. Edaño et Maximo Ramos, puis décrite en 1918 par Elmer Drew Merrill (1876-1956), dans le Philippine Journal of Science Volume 13, page 38.
Cette espèce très caractérisée est l’une des rares appartenant à la section Diploclinium avec des feuilles peltées.
Végétation arbustive, buissonnante, fleurs blanches.

This very characteristic species is one of the few belonging to the Diploclinium section with leaves peltates.
